Off-Shore
HFMI treatments are today mostly used in offshore applications like oil/gas rigs and ships which are subjected to critical fatigue loads by the movements of the sea. The main usage is for life extension treatments of existing structures. Our cost-effective improvements solutions can speed up the usage of high strength steels for more cost efficient and lighter structures.
Bridges
In all welded steel bridges around the world crack initiation and crack propagation is present, limiting the life. Through inspections and computer analyses the critical spots can be identified and improved to enhance the life of the bridges.
In the future, we believe that bridges will be built of high strength stainless steels where welds are improved and compressive stresses are introduced in critical locations with HFMI.
Construction Equipment/Mining
In some construction equipment applications, it is beneficial with reduced weight, it relates mostly to buckets and lifting arms which are moved up and down many times. Reduced weight save fuel and have a double effect with a reduce weight for the counter weight. Also for articulated haulers and rigid trucks it is beneficial to introduce improvement methods to reduce weight and increased the fuel efficiency. Our improvement methods are also easy to use in preventive maintenance operations on site to prohibit severe failures in known risk locations.
Vindmills, chimneys and buildings
Are all structures that mainly get its fatigue load from the wind. Connections and stiffeners close to the base is extra critical and here could it be essential to use improvement methods in production or for fatigue life extension of existing structures..
Transportations
Load carrying parts of trucks, trains and other vehicles are very critical for function and safety. Efficient improvement methods locally of a few welds can make it cost efficient to weld more parts to due to an improved and more predictable fatigue properties. A predictability which enable weight and cost reduction without increasing the risk for failures
Cranes
Cranes are mostly subjected to low cycle fatigue with load cycles counted in thousands instead of millions. High strength steels are often used and the structures have high maximum stresses which can relax compressive stresses introduced by HFMI. Grinding or grinding combined HFMI are then more suitable to get the wanted properties.
Agriculture and Forestry
Usage of high strength steels and our improvement methods can reduce weight of argiculture and forestry equiment. Giving reduced fuel consumptions and prohibit unvanted soil compaction. A weight reduction of strategic parts are often doubble since counterweights also can be smaller.
Process industry
Many machines predominantly within the process industry are exposed for long time fatigue load which gives crack in the structures. For these structures it is profitable to prevent failures with our cost effective improvment processes.
